Ruby Hill is an open-pit, heap leach gold mine, owned and operated by Ruby Hill Mining Company LLC, a subsidiary of Waterton Precious Metals Fund II. Ruby Hill is located in Eureka County, Nevada, approximately 2 kilometers northwest of the town of Eureka.
Construction of the Ruby Hill mine began in February 1997 and commercial production was achieved on January 1, 1998. Operations continued until 2002 and were discontinued until 2006 due to weak metals prices, and the first gold was poured in February 2007.
Ruby Hill is an open-pit mine with primarily oxide material. Ore processing includes on-site gold recovery by zero-discharge heap leach and carbon column facilities.
Royal Gold holds a 3.0% net smelter return royalty on all ores and minerals produced from the Ruby Hill mine.
Royal Gold acquired its royalty interest on the Ruby Hill mine on May 23, 2012 from International Minerals Corporation.
